"From now, you are gonna be my secret treasure box", I said holdin her hand. "Dat'll be real fun! You know you can trust me!" , she replied grinning in excitement. Her chubby cheeks glowed with happiness on finding a true friend in me.. And I felt something more than joy.. A sort of honor, a feeling of deep gratitude.. And I was so surprised that a person grew so close to me within a month.
" Hmm.. what do I call you! Your name turns a simple sentence into a tongue twister!", I said. " call me anything you want Geethu!" she said assuringly.
"Cherry!! " I cried immediately. It was the first thing that flashed across my mind.
I've always believed in having a cartload of "hi - bye" friends and avoiding any "best friend" to walk in my life. Considering my lack of commitment in relationships, I've always tried my best to avoid a "close friend".
She was different. I had loads of untrustworthy buddies. But she had only one best friend. She never hesitated to create an enigma around her,and always blocked the way for timepass relations.
It was the first day of junior college. We both knew each other before but had only exchanged polite smiles. "She's sickly sweet and fake!" Cherry had thought.. "She has attitude!" I had thought.
Finally we both walked into the same classroom. The ELECTRONICS stream.. A week slowly passed. Walking in late into the class on the first day itself, I had no choice but to sit with a psychopath girl. Finally the golden day arrived when I gracefully picked up my bag and placed it next to Cherry. "Freeeedom!" I cried out loud. She started laughing! "I am so sorry you had to sit with that psychopath", she said sympathetically. From that very day, we were drawn to each other. We craved for free periods to sit and talk. Our wavelenghts literally coincided. We talked our heads off about everything! Our family, our interests, our weird incidents and off coursee the teenage "girl talk"!!!
One fine day, after a huge tiring laugh, she said looking down.., "Sharvari is my only best friend till now, you know". "Hmm..That's nice", I replied. " But I have soo much fun with you.. Your one of the nicest persons I've ever met Sangeetha!" she said smiling. "Then do me a favour and please call me geethu for godsake!!" I said.
"You have always been very sweet with me since the beginning.. But I was soo wrong in judging it as fake. It's truly real that you are actually that sweet and nice", she said those words with honesty.
I was touched by her simple words. She never appreciated anything unless it was worthy. And those words rang like an achievement in my ears.. " I donno what to say cherry.. You are something that I've always missed. You are like my sister" That was all I could say. " I am your sister" she replied smiling.
"Careful idiot! You are gonna spoil these pillow covers!" Cherry cried in irritation. I grinned sheepishly. Holding a mehendi cone n one hand and a book in other, I slowly drew patterns on Cherry's tiny palms. " I am booking you as the official mehendi artist of my left palm in my wedding!" she said formally trying to hold a smile. "Really?? Are you kidding Cherry? I am soo honored!" I exclaimed. We promised to stay this close till the end.
Dreamum wakeupum critical condition.. Earthum quakepum hiladula sab shakeupum.. We danced furiously to the tunes.. Well.. I just shaked my hips.. she did the actual dancing.. Did I forget to mention, she is an amazing dancer too!!! LOL....
A personal note to cherry- Dont get too happy after readin this.. I wrote this just for eating your mom's yummy 'vatana' n 'vangi' bhaji! The only great thing you've taught me till now is the shortcut to wear a 131217. rofl! ;)

"Kutty!" That title is the one which I adore a lot. I've always wanted to be referred to as something tiny. Hearing it from a guy sent a jolt of deja vu rushing through me. " Anna!!" I said, immediately. Yes, he was the big brother of my dreams.Super handsome and strong, crazy and caring , naughty and emotional. Perfect! I said to myself.. It was like making me smile was his only motive. We always have funny conversations, share nice stuff, pull each others legs, argue like anything!
"Now that you are my big brother, you have some major responsibilities", I said grimly, stifling a giggle.. "Like what, kutty papa?" he said. I poured out all my demands.. 'Firstly you'll have to beat up any person who troubles me! Deal?" I said. He grinned.."Sure! No one gets to trouble my titli!" I have loads and loads to write about him but since someone hates publicity (jerk! huh!), I am gonna just stop..
So here comes a note to mr. anna.. I am Super sorry to have violated your law regarding freedom of expression! Kindly accept this crime done by my natural instincts.. Love you!
ur titli.. :)

The mush tale
"Maammma!! Pass me that jhumka! I wanna look prettier than you!". Mum laughed and handed out the jhumkas. We were getting ready for a wedding and with the usual "oohs and aahs" I had finally managed to get ready avoiding any drama or a moping session over my hairstyle. That gave mom real relief and pleasure! Inspecting me from head to toe meticulously she said "Hmm... You look gorgeous baby doll!! I guess I have competition this time.. Oh wait! But..."
"But what!?! " I exclaimed in surprise. These last minute ifs and buts always scared me out of my wits! She giggled meanly and said "Its nothing sweetheart,, YOu look great!" She was about to turn away when I caught her sharply " Amma! will you take the simple pain to tell me?" She giggled again.. "Nothing kannama.. Its just that.. You have a teeny tiny moustache which is kinnndoff .. I mean sortoff... clearly seen." "What?!?" I yelled in agony. "That is so not true!" I rushed towards the mirror pushing everyone on my way. And there it was.. I wondered how I had never realised any activity going on my face... And thats how the tale began..
From that day, I became unusually concious of that mush! Stopped wearing foundations or using compaqs or any of the stuff that made my face look fairer.. Mom and dad had ocassional jokes and laughs about it privately, it sometimes became a sleepover topic but most of the time, I knew I actually dint care a tuppence! A mush can devastate a normal girly girl's mind! But I was something more. I was a "lazy" girly girl.. Looks or fashion never mattered. " Yea!Watever" was the only response I gave.. I mean, whats so hilariously surprising that a girl has a teeny tinyy bit of mush! Not like I have a third eye like cyclopes! Please people get a job!!!
On one fine day, I was talking to a friend of mine when he suddenly exclaimed " Hey geeth!!! What's the matter with you nowadays! Trying some new style huh? " I was like "huh? Sorry?" He grinned like an idiot and said "How lucky you have a nice moustache! Am struggling for a stubble here!"
That sent a shock through me.. Cheers to geethu! Now even guys are gonna comment on my supposedly new "STYLE"! I couldn't stand that insult. I walked off giving him a hostile glare!
After hearing this incident, mom just.... ROFLDD!!!! PAng! Barcelona 2 Chelsea 0! This was too much ! Seeing my embarassment mom thought for a while deeply and dragged me to a fairy land.. And zip zup zap! There goes my mush SNAP!! There were tears in my eyes. But it was worth it! I could suddenly see a great difference. A clean thread off! I looked like my dad after he had a clean shave! Thankfully, nobody noticed anything..
After a month, a voice piped in from the back bench.. "Somebody needs a razor ! Mush girl's back!" I dint bother to look behind and give my million dollar glare. "Shut up you guys!" my friend yelled at them angrily. "She'll grow a frenchbeard if she wants and that ought to be none of your business!".. I held her hand and silently murmured shaking my head" Time for a fairyland visit!".. ;)

Life after the cocoon broke..
Ahhh!! Finally!! I turned "sweet" 16 this november! I just mouthed these words a little more than often on that day, I guess.."Sweet sixteen'' ! When I tried to recall how I spent the last 16 years of my life.. my mind got flooded with uncountable memories..most of them giving me undefinable pangs of pain .. The last 16 years of my life had been wonderfully joyous.. I'd always recieved love from the people whom I'd known, cared about or even encountered. This realisation gave me immense amount of happiness but on the other hand it equally made me feel guilty and scared. Guilty, as I've never felt I've repayed the affection I got.. and scared that someday I might lose every single memory as days flip rapidly in the book of my life. Also, growing up would mean an abrupt end to the pampering I've recieved as the only kid, as the first child of the family, as the little girl of my mamas and thatha.. As much as I adored the "sweet sixteen" title which sounded very cool and of course a vital step in a teenagers life, I wished I wouldn't grow up so fast.
All these days, as my body grew, my mind grew, my experiences started teaching me things.. every mistake I commited made me wiser and brought me closer to God. I began understanding upto some extent, the sole objective behind any incident occcuring in my life. I started valuing certain things, failed terribly in fixing priorities but always tried to take the first step towards being a good human by heart. My dreams always gave me an urge to do something phenomenal! Unfortunately, some qualitites like laziness, naughtiness, possessiveness, and improper time management still persist without a trifle change. And of course how can I forget to blame Mr. "Adrenaline" rushing through my veins always at the wrong time, when I get stuck at complex situations making me lose my temper often, making me edge away from the real patient and calm person I am.
So, growing up is an inescapable phenomenon and I honestly can't say whether its good or bad. But certainly, it brings about a difference. Between the past and the present. Between who you were and who you are. Between the decisions you make. And this difference is what sprinkles spice to life, making it worthwhile!

Wild Orchids
"But mommy! I need to be driven by my natural instincts in order to write anything!" I cried. Mommy shook her head and murmured something.. So after a pestering session with mum, I finally got the "instincts" to write a book review.. Here it goes..
This is the first time I've picked up a proper romance- thriller from the library. So my first experience was quite interesting actually.. This book called "Wild orchids", written by Jude Deveraux has an amazing blend of adventure, romance and nail - biting mystery. The narration of each chapter is very beautifully switched between two main characters of the story who have absolutely no connection between them at first. Eventually, as their lives get mixed up, their stories get connected and each chapter potrays the events from the viewpoint of the protagonists. Ford and Jackie.
Ford Newcombe could never become a proper writer until his wife Pat entered his life bringing an air of positivity and optimism with her. Ford, who always believed that no one had ever suffered ill-fate more than his family was taken aback ,when he saw the happiness that flourished in Pat's family despite of the troubles they'd faced in life. He began loving Pat and her family dearly who supported and motivated him thereby making him a successful writer. However, after the shocking death of his wife Pat, Ford's life was shattered to pieces. Have you ever lost someone whom you loved more than your own life?
Jackie whose native place was a town named Cole creek, was an expert in story-narration. Sitting in a cafe, she meets Newcombe, the revolutionary writer whose stories had brought tears in the eyes of readers. On seeing her wonderful abilities Ford, whose attempts to write a book had failed after Pat's death, decides to appoint her as his secretary. What attracted him towards Jackie was her story about the woman from cole creek who loved the devil and hence was murdered by the townpeople. As Jackie and Ford shift to the unpopular town, a series of mysterious events take place. Jackie starts getting premonitions about massive accidents and tries to prevent them. Her encounter with an interesting and handsome stranger( with whom she falls in love with) brings a twist to the story. Finally, after a chain of mysterious events Ford and Jackie realise the secret that had brought them to Cole Creek, their connections with the devil, and the love that bound their hearts and paths together.
The last chapter of the story which invloves a conversation between Ford and the devil is the most extravagant and crucial part of the story which clearly indicates the sole objective of each event. Each line in the conversation is breathtaking and gives a perfect end to the story, leaving the reader entirely satsfied.

Madrasapattinam Again! + a gross tale absolutely free!
ONwards!! packing for chennai AGAIN!!! This year I've visited chennai a lot of times and though I find this city extremely hot and sultry and maybe a danger zone for my poor face, I feel kinda attatched to this city... I certainly dont have any basic sort of knowledge about this place.. yet whenever my relatives start off naming some million areas in Madras I lend my ears keenly to the conversation...This time the occasion for the trip turned out to be my sister/aunt's wedding (long story).. Anyways..So i hope this trip turns out more fabulous than before..
(The above passage was written before the chennai trip)
AND IT DID!!!!! These days were few of the best days of my life.. because I realised literally a lottt of things about relations and had hell a lot of fun! So I dedicate this post to all my sisters and brothers who showered upon me.. loads of love and affection .. giving me this bountiful experience that I'll never forget... Rammu. Vaishu. Abhijeet. Abhishek. N how can i forget darlings Mahathi, Ananya, Adhithi, Vardhu... You guys made these 2 days of mine rockin awesome!!!!
Starting with ramya.. What to say yaar.. I always have cartloads of fun with you everytime! Having the usual girl gossip and listening to funny tales! This time I understood the sisterly bond we share.. The amazing berth to berth chats..
Vaishu! Was a pleasure meeting you.. Honestly speaking I have never seen a person so warm hearted like you. Our tastes match a lot and looking at you makes me crave for an elder sister!
Jeet and Shek.. You guys are a package of fun and the most kindhearted guys i've ever seen! Thank u so much for being so welcoming and treating me like your sister. Will never forget those scooty rides to palwanthangal station and around nanganallur..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Who likes watching sarabhai vs sarabahi?", abhijeet piped in enthusiastically.. We (ramya, vaishu and myself) were leaning on the staircase and chatting after finishing our lunch "the heavy tamizh kalyanam food".. I raised my hand in response to his so called casual question. " Then come home! We'll all watch it together!" This gave me a sudden jerk! "How'll I come to your house? I need to go and change first and there's no one to drop me!" I replied. I was excited at the prospect of being with my cousins but then, troubling people was the last thing I wanted to do. Somehow, Jeet agreed to take me to mami's home and then to watch sarabhai vs sarabhai. Meanwhile we had to wait for mami who was inturn waiting for my mom to finish her lunch!
"phew! this is gonna take a while!" I sighed shaking my head. Jeet grinned.
" Ol' Mcdonald had a FAARM EE YAA E YAA OO!!", mami sang in her melodious voice looking after 5 kids all clad in beautiful pattu pavadais. I watched her play with the kiddies without getting bored . Like she was a universal mommy! "ANd In HIs FaRm He......" that went on for a while until mahathi yelled " Amma!! moochaaaaaaa!!" Mami stopped singing and said earnestly " Will you watch them? I'll take mahathi upstairs." I shuddered at the thought of managing 4 kids demanding nursery rhymes. I didnt have the universal mom thing in me, I knew that! " NO NO NO I'll take mahathi instead!" I said.
Mahathi walked beautifully with me asking sweet questions, talking in her cute higgeldy piggeldy accent! I "hmm hmm - ed" at her answers and replied to her questions until we reached our destination.. washroom. Taking a toddler to bathroom was something I didnot do regularly. So, I was pretty hoping that she would finish her job.. 2 mins, 3 mins.. My baby sis sat for a while.. "Are u done darling?" She looked at me and grinned.. "I pooped geethu!"
"Oh my god!!" I felt like laughing at mahathi's expression and also felt like banging my head against the door at the same time.. How am I gonna complete my "after poop formalities" with my baby sis with people waiting for me out there! I tied my skirt tightly like tamil men tied their "veshtis" and got to my work. Adjusting her silk, I put in as much efforts as I could and somehow did my job satisfactorily!
We both came out looking pleasant. At least mahathi did. "Done?" Jeet asked. " Ya! done!" I said with the "Oh-yeah-it-was-such-a-cakewalk-that-my-skirt's-gonna-fall-off-any-moment" expression.
